He completed his early education in Akşehir/Konya and earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Çukurova University in 1983, followed by an MSc in 1986. In 1984, he began working as a Research Assistant in the same department and became a Lecturer in 1986. With a YÖK scholarship, he pursued his PhD at the University of Liverpool, completing it in 1993.

After returning, he served at Çukurova University as Assistant Professor (1993–1995), Associate Professor (1995–2001), and Professor (2001–2022). From 2022–2025, he was Professor in the Department of Automotive Engineering. He also conducted research at the University of Hannover in 1998 with a NATO scholarship. On 17 February 2025, he retired voluntarily and later joined Ostim Technical University as a full-time Professor.

Alongside teaching and research, he held administrative positions at Çukurova University, TÜBİTAK, and TENMAK. Between 2013–2020, he was Chairman of the Board and General Manager of the Çukurova Technology Development Zone. His leadership extended into national and international collaborations.

His research covers internal combustion engines, hybrid and electric vehicles, renewable fuels, and advanced manufacturing. He holds patents, has published over 300 works, and has led many R&D projects with national and international funding.
